"Road Holding" (Bodenhaftung) – Through the City with Camera and
Tripod
People who normally photograph with a handy digital camera might view
working with a tripod as slow and cumbersome. All the time one misses that
"decisive moment" – the moment one sees a possible picture, it has already
become history.
This workshop aims to encourage participants to 'decelerate' their
photographic approach and in doing so increase their sensitivity for those
images which perhaps reveal themselves only on a second or third sighting. Using
the tripod as an ankle shackle the participants are asked to roam the city and
develop a topographic theme. This may be a certain building, a defined site or a
neighborhood. It is also possible to work within (non-site specific) urban
environments, which share relationship in form and content.
Participants with access to a large format camera are encouraged to use
them within the context of this workshop.

The workshops will be held in small groups of 5 to 10 participants. Each
participant will define their own individual project supported through group
discussions and the critical examination of the participant's work as it
progresses.
All interested applicants should apply by
email, attaching 5 to 10 examples of their own work and/or a link to their
personal website. They should also attach a short statement about their
photographic skills and motivation.
