BerlinWinterWorkshops
This land was made for you and me
A photography project in Berlin's Wedding neighborhood
Katja Stuke & Oliver Sieber (dt./engl.)
Katja Stuke, Oliver Sieber and the workshop particpants will establish an
experimental lab in the "Kronenboden"
exhibition space in the heart of Berlin's Wedding neighborhood. This "lab on
site" will be the base camp for various expeditionary and documentary
approaches.
There will be room to find all kinds of subjects that may be realized and
worked on within many photographic positions, approaches and individual
visual languages. We are looking for very individual series made within the
context of the Wedding: streetphotography as well as architectural.
portraits as well as stills, and all kinds of other forms...

Structure
Initially we will introduce the neighborhood within a shot lecture. We are
interested in it's infrastructure, it's characteristics, the private and
public spaces, it's inhabitants, centres, shops, the social situation, and
it's strong- and weak spots.
Moreover we will give an overview on thematic and relevant photobooks on the
subject and look at very different forms of publictaions, contemporary
positions as well as introduce various ideas of research and visual
strategies.
In addition we would like to invite the participants to introduce one's own
earlier work to the group.

The "Kronenboden" will be our meeting point, hangout and workspace where we
can discuss and talk about the developing pieces and images as an ongoing
process. Group discussions, critical input and feedback on each participants
work will be the main focus of this workshop. In addition we will introduce
possible forms of publication or exhibition ideas with reference to the
developing work. With this approach several new series will take shape over
the course of the five workshop days. The work will be evolving and at the
same time exhibited on a large, heterogeneous pin board: the "working wall".
Over the weekend when the monthly "Kolonie Wedding-Wochenende" will take
place we will open this space and working process for the public. In
addition we will offer to present the workshop results in a weblog.
