Photoediting
Michael Biedowicz (dt.)
Many photographers aspire for placing their own personal- and/or
commissioned work in good magazines or weekly supplements as a photographic
essay, reportage, or at least as a coherent sequence of images.
But who the heck are the people on "the other side"? What do photo editors do?
How do they think and what are they looking for? With which criteria do they
look at images and how do photo "stories" in magazines come about?
Michael Biedowicz, *1955, worked as a photolab technichian, theatre-photographer
before he became a photo editor in 1988 for magazines and newspapers such as:
"Bildende Kunst", "taz", "Wochenpost", "DIE ZEIT". Since 2007 he is photo editor
in chief for "ZEITmagazin".
The workshop is geared for photographers working in the field of photojournalism
as well as for people who are interested in gaining insights in the working
field of photo editors.
