Workshop in Riga
ISSP (International Summer School of Photography) recently
cooperated with BerlinPhotoWorkshops and conducted a workshop by
Kai-Olaf Hesse at the
Goethe Institute in Riga, Latvia:
Photoworks presentation: sequence, context & strategies
(4–5 December 2009)
The workshop addressed the prerequisites for the content and design of
an image series, or sequence in order to come up with best possible form
of presentation – projection, exhibition, book, or other – for the
respective body of work.
The workshop discussed possibilities and critical aspects in regard to
the presentation of photographs on the basis of participant's ready
works, or work in progress.

Terminus Riga
Terminus Riga is a very personal narrative of Riga City. The project investigates the
patterns of the city's edge. around the final stops of tram lines. Landscapes,
interiors and people mark the city's boundaries, however the project is less
about that which is in front of the camera then about my own need to investigate
the always changing nature of space.

This is an unfinished series which was produced as material for a stop motion
film as a video the music band In The Box and soon will be continued...
The story is about development and experience in a particular period of life. We
are all individuals. At any stage of life from time to time we are dealing with
change and difficulties. The changes bring us new insights and experiences.
Capitalizing on this experience in one moment, we realize that we've reached
another level of development.
It also happened with this group of musicians, when it hit the change in terms
of composition in group and music style. Aware of our individuality we all
understand that it is surrounded by like-minded people with whom the merger of
the aims and intentions of teamwork can achieve and fulfill more effectively. A
larger force is in synergy.

This is a work in progress, investigating an abandoned building in a
distant countryside location where there are few people living in the
neighbourhood. After they took away everything they considered reusable,
nature has taken over the place and has created a setting; both
intriguing and scaring.
